Six members of the Lodge were joined by two of their wives at the Sussex Festival Banquet at the Metropole Hotel in Brighton on 13th May. It was an excuse to dress up and enjoy a celebration of Masonic success. The evening was well organised with over 1000 Masons and their wives/partners in attendance. The atmosphere was relaxed and sociable throughout. The formalities were kept to a minimum for such an event and the speeches, in the main, short and relevant.
The target set by the then PGM Ken Thomas in September 2010 was £2,017, 000. The Festival achieved a grand total of £3,617,437. A huge effort from Sussex Masonry. For me, the joy was the unilateral recognition from all speakers of Ken Thomas's contribution. Although no longer PGM he and his wife were invited to the stage as the cheque was presented to Judge Richard Hone QC President of the Masonic Charitable Foundation.
